Meet our Head of Digital, Eamonn
Eamonn is our guru who runs all things digital!
What programme or software can you not live without?
I love my IDE (integrated development environment), it’s called PHP Storm and it does everything, it lets me know when I’ve made a bad typo, it allows me terminal access directly to the projects I’m working on, it provides hints and resources on CSS and Javascript, it tracks my changes on a github repository and that’s just scratching the surface. I began coding In notepad++ and scoffed at lazy developers letting IDE’s do all the work for them, but the reality is the cumulative time I save using PHP Storm per month is easily several hours of studio time!
Who or what inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
My computers teacher in secondary school took me aside and said “Ok, you clearly know how to use a computer” (we were basically learning how to turn the things on at this stage) and asked me would I like to do a research project, I said I didn’t know what to do, he said why not check out HTML … many years later the company I was working for needed work done on their website and I said “Hey I know a little about that…” and that was probably the worst/best idea ever, depending on how my day is going!
